Closing Weekend

Sweetest Swing is closing this weekend. It has had a good run. May is traditionally a difficult month for theatre! Just think about all the other events going on:

Graduations

Prom

Recitals

Weddings

Family reunions

Finals

Moving

Other summer festivals

Golf tournaments

As a result, we didn't sell out the house too many times. However, those who saw it raved and raved and raved. I feel like a proud mama! Each night I would work in The Ol' Vic cafe before the show. Then I'd sneak upstairs to watch or simply sit in the green room and listen to the show. I never got bored with it. The actors have been spot-on every night (not an easy task) and the audiences... wow, to hear the laughter and the audible gasps and oohhh/aahhhs/hmmms... that has been the sweestest music to my ears.

Next up Stage West is producing Noises Off by Michael Frayn. This is a show that I've wanted to do for, well, forever. Oh the irony! We finally produce it and I'm pregnant.

That's ok. I'm going to enjoy being a spectator of one of the funniest farces ever written. Meanwhile, I'll be running the front of house/cafe. If I can't be on stage or back stage or directing or designing, I'm quite happy to be greeting patrons, making sandwiches or waiting on tables.

Plus, the extra time will allow Justin and me to make some fun videos/podcasts for Noises Off. Stay tuned for those!
